I found a little diary with cream colored paper that I’d never actually used! So I’ve decided to start using it as a little sketchbook to draw in every morning! Here are some of the ones from the past couple days that I particularly liked. Every page is dated when I finish the stuff on it so I can keep track of progress. :>
I’ll try to upload stuff from this pretty regularly if there’s anything decent. Everything will be tagged #skeptic sketchbook.
Welcome to your monthly edition of “Dear god I really need a new scanner”.
Not that it would have helped terribly here because this is in a 14x17 inch sketchbook.
Today’s episode: “How the hell do arms even work, anyway.”
Thanks to all of you who provided me with lovely buff lady references, I can now draw Erabel’s arms to my heart’s content.
Got tired of fighting with the paper’s tooth closer to the bottom, so things got really scribbly. Might go back in and hit some of the decent sketches with a pen so I can photo them properly later.
Wanted to doodle my characters Adventure Time-ish.
I wanted to try something really different. :V
PROJECT BOOGIE
So, ages ago I did some arts (top) of a character dancing because I was listening to this song a bunch and it was the natural result. It wasn’t until afterward that I realized HOW DAMN HELPFUL it was, for practice.
It helps you work on a bunch of things: consistency, anatomy, dynamic poses, gestures, and implying a character’s personality via said gestures, it helps you loosen up to work on bigger projects, and you know what it’s just plain FUN.
Tonight I decided to kick artblock in the teeth and work on poses at the same time, and sketched up a new version (bottom).
SO HERE’S MY PROPOSAL:
Pick out a tune and draw a character of yours (or your favorite character from something — whatever, all that matters is you’re DRAWIN’) rockin’ out to it. It can be super loose sketches or a finished thing. Draw a handful of poses, try out different angles and perspectives!
LET’S DRAW SOME SILLY THINGS AND LEARN STUFF WHILE DOING IT.
And when you’re done, if you wanna upload it, tag it with #projectboogie so I can love you.
Show me your boogie.
Oh same.
Fish darling.
Sloooooowly tweaking and rendering these concepts out.
Fussin’ with a couple concepts.
:B sketches from yesterday night.
