There is a multitude of expressions and 21 views of each. You can slide around each picture as well as zoom in and out. It’s great for reference, especially since it’s in black and white it’s good for seeing only the values.
“it’s okay to draw shitty pictures. it’s okay to practice and not get something and make a pile of ugly, shitty drawings that make you want to flip a table. not everything you draw has to be awesome. you don’t even have to fix everything you make that’s shitty. you can look at it and go hey this is really shitty, and this is why, and fold it into a paper airplane. don’t be embarrassed of your failures. don’t feel dumb when you don’t know how to draw something. that knowledge is not built into you or anyone else.
it’s easy to draw a shitty leg or whatever and think ‘dang, this seems so simple, someone else could have drawn this same thing right in eight seconds, i should know how to do this it’s only a leg i’ve got two jammed onto my own ass’ but no matter who you compare yourself to i guarantee they’ve sat around thinking to themselves, ‘dang this is a shitty ______ i just did, everyone makes it look so easy’ and they’ve made piles of shitty drawings too, ones that took them hours and hours and still looked massively shitty, even. don’t get so MAD when you do it, stop sweating all over your tablet with your meaty anger fists. you want to make something and uh oh you can’t? well you’re going to learn how a lot faster if you aren’t sticking your thumb up your ass in protest simmer down”—does the space cold make your nipples go pointy: more advice mostly to myself (via heysawbones)
I have a friend named Kayle, who goes by winds-shadow here on tumblr! He is having trouble at home, and me and his girlfriend want to help raise money so he can stay living where he is!
I’m offering commissions, but donations are great too!
Paypal is firstname.lastname@example.org
If you want a commission, send an email to that same email above! Please!
There also seem to be a couple others taking commissions for the cause, so take a look at her blog or the link up there as well as this post for a gander at some neat stuff you can get from a couple awesome people for helping a dude out. :>
I read this last night it is such a good review for anyone who is trying to become a real artist! (like myself!!!)
this pretty much encapsulates my views on the matter! might be helpful to those who are worried about inspiration in either their own or other people’s work.
and of course, personality imitation, stalking and never-ending denial about your direly one-sided ‘inspiration’ are NEVER okay but fall into a totally different category of creepy impersonation that would require a totally different kind of article to understand. i think most of you know who/what i mean. this article is not about that, just about people who are searching for a healthy attitude towards being inspired!
The author talks about the dos and don’ts of copying, controlling your content, how to best integrate your inspirations, the concept of looking at things with an “artist’s eye,” and the legal/ethical quandaries of imitation (one of my favorite subjects, as you all know) in very kind, simple, easy to understand terms.
I was going to say it’s a must-read for beginning artists, but it’s really a must-read for everyone, as it put a lot of tough to pin down thoughts I have on these subjects into quality words.
Wonderful article on the importance behind the prices of hand-made items. Would be a great read for, say, everyone, but particularly everyone who has ever tried to commission me and told me I was charging too much (which is 80% of people).
Why is this not getting more signal boost.
This right here folks. This.
all you crafters, heads up
This. This right here. Damn.
What people also don’t understand is the time taken to learn and perfect the craft. I’ve had people bitch at me because I’m “withholding information” ie, something i developed MYSELF to SELL. They’re mad because I’m not giving them a SHORTCUT for FREE. You’re paying for the quality of the plush and that quality took time to build. I’m not here to build you a castle if you wave five dollars in front of me and tell me that I’M being greedy.
The drama that happened when I had started selling in the MSPA fan store on etsy was funny because of how nasty and obnoxious the complainer was but the problem was still there: people feel entitled to free shit. I think it was lexxercise that said that media consumers are incredibly spoiled. It’s true. Mass production has made people spoiled and entitled. We sort of expect shit to come out of nowhere.
